From travel PT to healthcare tech: meet Dr. Paulette Olson, PT
Paulette Olson was a travel physical therapist before she helped build Jobifi. Her recruiter back then is now our co-founder.

Before Paulette Olson helped build the healthcare intelligence behind Jobifi, she was on the other side of the staffing industry, working as a travel physical therapist. For years she traveled the country doing what travel healthcare professionals do best, stepping into unfamiliar facilities and bringing her clinical expertise wherever it was needed. Her recruiter in those days was Amy Barnes, now Jobifi's co-founder.
Neither of them knew their paths would come back together years later in an entirely different way.
From the clinic to the classroom
After years on the road, Paulette changed direction without leaving healthcare. She earned a master's degree in health informatics administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
She knew how care actually gets delivered, having spent years inside the facilities where it happens. The degree gave her the technical grounding to work on the systems behind it.
A professional relationship comes full circle

Paulette (right) with Amy Barnes at Advanced Inc., years before either of them was working on Jobifi.
Years after the recruiter and traveler days, Amy and Paulette reconnected, this time as peers. Paulette had launched her own business, Prep413, which gives traveling nurses and therapists a fast route through the licensing and compliance rules that change state by state. The two started working together in a new capacity, built on a shared understanding of healthcare and an interest in making the industry better.
Bringing clinical intelligence to Jobifi
For software to make sense of that, someone has to understand what the jobs mean rather than only what they are called.
Today Paulette is Jobifi's Quality Assurance Manager, and she oversees our healthcare taxonomy.
Taxonomy sounds like a dry word for a simple job. In healthcare staffing it is neither. Think about how many ways a facility might describe the same position. A physical therapist can show up as PT, Physical Therapist, DPT, or Physical Therapy. Nursing gets harder, with terminology, abbreviations, and clinical requirements all varying across hundreds of healthcare organizations and vendor management systems.
That is the part Paulette's clinical background covers. She reads a posting and knows the discipline behind it, the specialty it belongs to, and what the facility is actually asking for. That knowledge comes from practicing, not from writing code.
Built by people who know the industry
We are proud of the product, and just as proud of where the understanding behind it comes from. Nobody here sat in a conference room working out how healthcare staffing operates. The people building Jobifi worked in the industry first.
Paulette is the clearest example of that. She has been the traveler. She knows the clinical requirements sitting behind a job description, and she makes sure the platform can tell apart two postings that look identical and are not, so recruiters spend less time searching and more time connecting healthcare professionals with opportunities.
Still being written
A recruiter and a travel physical therapist crossed paths years ago, went their separate ways, and ended up building technology for the industry that introduced them. What stands out to us is how little of Paulette's experience went to waste along the way. The clinic work, the degree, the business she started, all of it keeps turning up in what she does now.
We are glad to have her on the team, and gladder still that what she learned in the clinic is shaping what we build.
The future of healthcare technology should not just be built for healthcare professionals. It should be shaped by them.
